#FeedTheVillage

In April 2020, The Village KC, Inc, in partnership with Urban Community Connections, Youth Empowerment Readiness Organization, Inc, and The iMatter Experience delivered sack lunches to families with children in grades K-12th grade.

This initiative was started in direct response to the needs of families due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This program was made available for families with K-12 students living in the Kansas City Public Schools, Center, Hickman Mills, Raytown, and Grandview, Missouri school district boundaries.

We delivered over 2000 meals to families during a 30 day period, thanks to gifts and volunteer hours from the community.

#CelebrateTheVillage

In May 2020, we launched an initiative to recognize high school graduates from all over the Greater Kansas City Area.

Students were recognized via social media and on the Village KC website. Ten students were randomly selected to receive gift bags with products/services from local black owned businesses.

Thanks to JPamela Stills Photography, Monteils Skincare and Aromatherapy, Bling Boss KC Jewelry, Simmy and the Jets/Soul Sessions KC, Driven By Purpose LLC, Foundations Helping Hands Project, and HBCU Walking Billboard.

#TheVillageGivesBack

In August 2020, we served 50 pre-registered families with this initiative. Families received school supplies, groceries, household items, and other community resources. Because of donations, we had enough school supplies left over to give away at the 816 Day Celebration! Once this initiative was over, we served over 200 students in the Greater Kansas City Area.

Thanks to Urban Community Connections, Life of The Party KC, Al-Inshirah Islamic Center, The iMatter Experience,, Babes For Change,  the Nike Store- Legends location, and Foundations Helping Hands Project for their generous donations to this initiative.

#JoyInTheVillage

Once teens age out of traditional gift giving programs, there aren't a lot of options for families with teens that need additional help during the holiday season. We believe that EVERY child deserves to enjoy the holidays, and that's where "Joy in the Village" comes in!

The community "adopted" teens from our website, and went shopping for their items, or donated the pledge amount. Together, we raised over $2300 for the teens! Village KC team purchased gift cards and specific items from the lists, then arranged pickup/delivery with their parents.

Special Thanks to Garmin, Sew Allie, NIKE- Legends, Handz & Needlez, Orangetheory Fitness- Lee's Summit, Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Funeral Chapels, Kalebs Karz, and Micah's Superheart Squad!
